Did you know that yoga was created thousands of years ago by men, for men?

The benefits of yoga for men has been documented and shared for many centuries where specific yoga poses have shown to improve physical and emotional courage.

These days, you may have noticed the trend with professional rugby players, basketball players, Olympic athletes, martial arts, and even the military incorporating yoga into their routines.

Reclaiming strength & openess

So does yoga make men softies? No, men who practice yoga feel physically and mentally more resilient and stronger. It increases feelings of self-worth and masculinity where men become socially more open towards each other’s experiences and feelings. Especially when groups of men practice together, they can really soak up the benefits of yoga by enjoying space from their daily pressures and relating to others through their shared experiences of life’s ups and downs.

The benefits of yoga for men

  • Mental fitness - the poses in yoga help to regulate our state of mind to help us make better decisions, to stay focused, to be strong mentally and physically, and to be better leaders

  • Improved flexibility - flexibility is not just the ability to touch your toes, but it's an important part of being able to move freely with agility

  • Prevent injury - yoga improves the body's range of motion in joints such as your shoulders or hips which can help you avoid pain and injury from repetitive use.

  • Strength and conditioning - yoga is not just about being flexible. Planks, push-ups, warrior poses, and balance poses help improve muscular endurance and build lean muscle mass

  • Reduce stress - The postures in yoga are designed to release tension from the body which is why it's such an effective tool for those with physical pain as well! Deep breathing can do wonders for calming down the mind and reducing stress and anxiety.

  • Promotes better sleep - Increased serotonin production combined with deep breathing techniques has been shown to decrease anxiety and help you get a better night's sleep.
