The gift of who you are

“To understand life is to understand ourselves, and that is both the beginning and the end of education” -J. Krishnamurti

Work on who you are

This upcoming Christmas break is a great time for reflection.

One of the best things we can do is work on ourselves to be more present and aware. If we are feeling lonely, or bored, or upset at all this time of year, instead of jumping to ‘fix some perceived problem’ could this instead be a time to get curious about where that feeling is coming from? Is this something I tend to cover up with keeping myself busy, being distracted by social media, by drinking or always socialising?

This Christmas, can we begin the process of becoming that person who embodies stillness, steadiness and inner peace? We can choose to work on ourselves so we are the 'pillar of calm' for the people around us?

Can we simply take time to sit and notice the 'stories we have created about who we are'? Or do we lurch for the iphone before we get an opportunity to pause and reflect? The way out of our uncomfortable emotions and stories, is in fact, by being with them (with lots of kindness towards our self!).

Maybe the gift of our true presence is indeed the present our families and friends are truly after this holiday season.

Who you are is more important than what you say and what you do. – Eckhart Tolle

Be a pillar of calm

I invite you to be a pillar of calm this Christmas. We can calm people around us simply by cultivating our own inner calm. Work on cultivating our own inner peace, get curious about the ways we can simplify acts of kindness. Spend time in nature enjoying your own company. Notice what’s going well in your life.

You'll bring joy walking into a room because of who you are. You will calm nervous people around you simply for being you.

Simply being a pillar of calm will help others around you.
