Relaxation techniques for better sleep

Workshops, and 1 hour talks, or yoga sessions for better sleep can be scheduled for your workplace

Do you wish you could have more sleep?

Many of us are not sleeping well. The fast pace of our Western world, the challenges of family and work life, the pressures of finances and people problems keeps our mind ticking over at night.

Many of us even celebrate fitting in more work, over deep sleep and rejuevention. But this can not go on forever. It eventually shows up in health issues, anxiety, low mood and generally just not living up to our full potential.

Sleep is perhaps the greatest legal performance-enhancing ‘drug’ that few people are taking advantage of’ - Mathew Walker Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. If we are struggling with sleep, it’s important to priortise learning techniques and habits to get the rest we need to live a fulfilling life.

Often sleep issues are related to something deeper in us. It’s as if our deepest part of us (our soul, you might say), is not at peace, or that we are always on edge in some way.

Get to the core of your sleep issues

It is possible to get to the core of why we are not sleeping, and to learn ways to get better sleep to enhance our quality of life.

For many of us, the main problem areas behind not getting enough sleep include:

1. Not feeling there is enough time for sleep because there’s so much to do.
2. Wanting to get enough sleep, but having trouble nodding off.
3. Waking during the night and worrying.

You will recieve a handmade pure NZ wool bolster, yoga blanket, and luxury lavendar infused eye pillow for use over the 5 week course (please bring a towel for over your bolster, if we are at L2. You’re welcome to bring your own blanket)

What will you learn?

The key to getting better sleep is not a one-size fits all. In my experience, its two fold. Getting better sleep relies on a combination of

  1. Finding what relaxes you. This includes a range of specific yoga and and evidence based techniques

  2. Cultivating healthier daily habits. Keeping an overall healthy lifestyle, including healthy thinking, will put you in a better place to cope with the times when it’s inevitable you will lose a bit of sleep.

In this upcoming workshop you will learn specific strategies for adressing the above issues. Based on the science, as well as the ancient wisdom of yoga, you will learn relaxation strategies as well as evidence based techniques such as healthy thinking, and learning to self soothe to get things into perspective and help you sleep.

In the workshop you will experience:

  • Yoga Nidra sleep guided meditation - yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. There is evidence that yoga nidra helps relieve stress.

  • Breathing techniques for relaxation

  • How to meditate - a 10 minute daily ritual

  • Some evidence based practices and wisdom for getting to the core of why we dont sleep

Always remember sleep is about looking after the most important asset in your life - you.

With love and compassion
